I started this blog in 2010 (I think?) when I landed my first major DJ-residency in Helsinki. I thought it would be a good way to semi-anonymously share music and the songs I play and wish I could or had the balls to play.
I also had another incentive: writing in Swedish. I'm Finnish and I don't have a finlandssvenska background, but I've always adored the language and done my best to learn it - I really have. I'm just not very good at learning grammar and sentence structures. I did my best, and 3 years after leaving high school I can with confidence announce: I've fucking mastered kon-su-kie-pre.
I'm writing this in English because I have re-discovered my love towards Ratata and everybody around here and there's no way I could express myself in Swedish. If I could, it would take me at least an hour to write this. Instead, I just wanted to say this:
I may break my ribs trying to write a full post in Swedish, but I really try, because I love the country, culture and language of Sweden. I may not be Finnish-Swedish, but I'm not trying to be. I love the community-like feeling of Ratata and will keep trying to perfect my skills in this language. I know it'll take time, but I'm willing to work for it.
So please excuse my Swedish and the occasional post in English. Still, MBKW is about music and will continue to be. Please enjoy. x
